Race to the Moon with Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager

Slitherine has launched another simulation game for the iPad. Instead of its typical war title the video game publisher has released Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager. The game allows players to take on the role of Director for either NASA or the Soviet Space Agency in the 1960s.

In the campaign mode players can choose to recreate the famous "space race" between the Cold War rivals, or play as the fictional Global Space Agency (GSA). The NASA vs.USSR campaign allows players to build their own space agency from the ground up by assembling a team of Scientists, Engineers, Technicians (SET), Flight Controllers and Flight Crews. Players can also recreate famous space programs and launch missions such as the Sputnik satellite, and manage other aspects of their space agency while dealing with political pressure to beat their rival to the Moon.

1980s Adventure Game Gold Rush Remade for iPad

Before the Hoffman crew landed on the Discovery channel, Gold Rush! the game was entertaining kids everywhere in 1988. The classic adventure game was eventually remade as Gold Rush! Anniversary for the PC and OS X in 2014 and now it is available for the iPad.

In Gold Rush! players take on the role of Jerrod Wilson, who must meet up with his brother in Sacramento. Wilson runs into problems leaving his home town of Brooklyn due to the 1849 California gold rush hitting at the same time he begins his journey. Players must decide to take one of three routes from New York to California, and on the way will see historic sites while running into danger such as Native Americans and deadly snow storms. The game features 130 pre-rendered images and animated scenes, English and German subtitles and new point-and-click controls optimized for touch displays.

Slitherine Releases Vietnam...'65 for the iPad

It has been a great few weeks for strategy game fans, especially those who enjoy playing tactical war simulations on their iPad. Several games such as Ultimate General: Gettysburg have recently been released to the App Store, and video game publisher Slitherine has just launched a second title today. Vietnam...'65 is another war strategy game from the creators of Battle Academy. This time players must win the trust of the local population by waging a counter-insurgency against the Vietcong.


The game promises to "capture the true essence of the Vietnam War" by featuring a "Hearts and Minds" victory condition where players are tasked with keeping the support of the American people back home. Players must win a political victory while coordinating ground troops and carrying out airmobile operations to stop the North Vietnamese Army from "unifying North Vietnam with the South under communist rule."

Battle Academy Goes to Hell in Fight for Gilrand on the iPad

Slitherine, the publisher of Battle Academy, has released a new strategy title for the iPad called Hell: Fight for Gilrand. In Hell, players can choose to command the Order of Radiance or an army of demons as they battle for control of the fantasy realm Gilrand. The game features easy to use touch controls for the iPad, but it is not an easy title to master, according to Pocket Gamer.

One does not simply walk into Gilrand... Players must outsmart their opponents by using a variety of strategic maneuvers and magical spells to earn bonuses that give them an advantage in battle. The game features different units and support units with their own special abilities and attacks for players to use. The official App Store description lists "paladins and flying gryphon riders to demonic hellions and hellhounds" as some of the available units. Troops also gain experience for successful attacks and defense, and earn bonuses for terrain advantages and morale.

Tactical Battle Simulator 'Ultimate General: Gettysburg' Now Available for the iPad

You can help the South rise again in Game Labs' Ultimate General: Gettysburg now available for the iPad. Players can command thousands of troops as the leader of either the Union or Confederate army in 10 historical missions. The tactical battle simulator was originally released for the PC through Steam before being rebuilt for tablet devices.

Ultimate General: Gettysburg features an immersive experience and "smart AI" that promises to offer a "significant" challenge by reacting to your actions in real time. The developers also "used satellite images and historical maps" to recreate terrain, houses and more. Other features include armies that act on their own, historically accurate forces and leaders and deep tactical combat that takes elevation and obstructions into account.

Build Your Own Zombie Army for World Zombination

Game developer Proletariat has launched a gameplay trailer for its upcoming MMO World Zombination. The real-time strategy game allows players to play as either humans or zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. Players who choose to be human will need to defend the city and its inhabitants from a zombie invasion in a tower defense style game. The zombie side of the game allows players to spawn hundreds of undead and mutate them to take over the world.

The game promises to include fun characters like the shotgun wielding Scattershot and plenty of nasty zombies including "Spitters" and "Harbingers." Players will be able to collect, manage and upgrade the human units and zombie drones as they play the game. World Zombination also features a third Clash of Clans-like element where players can compete in head-to-head battles, faction wars and guild raids in over 50 cities on a shared world map.

RPG Starship Captain: Adventure In Alpha Sector Coming to iPad Tonight

A new free-to-play RPG called Starship Captain: Adventure In Alpha Sector for the iPad is set to land on the App Store tonight. The strategy title was originally launched in 1995 as a web-based game called Space Pirate, before going through a few changes over the years. The latest version is a strategy game where players can travel from planet to planet to trade goods and seek adventure. Players can also take on missions, mine asteroids and plunder other ships to build their own space fortune.

The game features "arcade-like battles and short stories told through mission text, according to the developer's blog. The short stories will mostly be told at spaceport bars where players can talk to other characters from the game and hire crew. Players will also be able to upgrade their ship and will have to manage resources such as fuel.

Dungeon Crawler 'Legend of Grimrock' Gets First Gameplay Trailer for iPad

Independent Finnish developer Almost Human has released the first gameplay trailer for the tablet version of Legend of Grimrock. The first person dungeon crawler made its debut for Windows and OS X in 2012 and spawned a sequel Legend of Grimrock II in 2014. In the game, players control a party of one to four characters as they explore dungeons and gain experience by slaying various monsters.

In the video you will see that the iOS version features touch screen controls for movement and swipe controls to cast spells.

Sid Meier’s Starships Announced for iPad, Mac and PC

2K Games announced that Sid Meier’s Starships will be released as a download-only title for the iPad, Mac and PC, according to a press release published on Monday by Polygon. Starships will feature "cross-connectivity" between 2K and developer Firaxis' other turn-based strategy title Civilization: Beyond Earth. This will allow players who own both games to build and command a planetary federation in the Beyond Earth universe.

Reliance Games' new action title, Ultimate Robot Fighting, is now available for iOS and Android devices. Fans of Real Steel will want to check out this new single-player robot fighting game. In URF, you're a human pilot who must fight through 250 robot and boss battles to prove you're the ultimate champion of the ring. The game features 45 cybernetic characters, each with their own personality and own fighting style, to help you take on the sentient AIs who now rule the world of Ultimate Robot Fighting!

The game features plenty of upgrades to help you design the perfect robot fighting team, nine environments, a dynamic day and night cycle, and achievements for winning matches. The game also promises to deliver " intuitive gesture controls, high-resolution 3D graphics, cel-shaded art design and detailed lighting and particle effects".
