Animation Throwdown for iOS is a huge disapointment

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards

Kongregate's Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards had the potential to be the next Pocket Mortys, but instead we got another Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff. In which I mean another boring game that you can play with your eyes closed while you wait for timers to expire.

Animation Throwdown has all the pieces to be an epic game, but it doesn't know what to do them. Collectible card games are all about rare cards, combinations and strategy. While Animation Throwdown does offer a lot of fun cards to collect, it suffers from lackluster game play.

Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards

Kongregate's new card battling title brings five of Fox's popular animated shows together in one game for the fist time. iPhone and iPad users can now play as their favorite characters from Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, American Dad, Futurama and King if the Hill. The game includes hundreds of cards featuring characters such as Stewie, Bender and more. Each character also has different versions of themselves with unique abilities and stats.

Space Marshals 2, Dungeon Warfare and more land on the Apple App Store

Space Marshalls 2

It's been very quiet in iPad land while fans wait for Apple to announce its upcoming iPhone event, so let's look at some newly release titles on the App Store. Pixelbite today released a sequel to its third-person shooter, Space Marshals. Like the original, Space Marshals 2 is a tactical top-down shooter that takes place in the Wild West with a Sci-Fi twist. The game requires players use their surroundings to take down criminals, instead of just blasting away. Players can use distractions to single out opponents, hack gun turrets and turn them against their enemies, trick criminals into fighting each other and use silent weapons and other stealth tactics.

Space Marshals 2 includes over 20 missions with performance based rewards, over 70 different weapons, MFi controller support and HD Metal graphics. Fans of stealth games will want to check out this sci-fi wild west adventure.

Rome: Total War coming to iPad

Feral Interactive on Friday posted a teaser trailer for an iPad version of Rome: Total War. Considered one of the best strategy games of all time, Total War was originally released in 2004 by Activision, and ported to OS X by Feral Interactive in 2010. The 37-second announcement trailer doesn't reveal much, except that the iOS version will be the full PC version originally created by Creative Assembly. Don't get confused by all the company names, Total War was developed by Creative and released by Activision in 2004, then the rights were picked up by Sega and the game was eventually developed for OS X by Feral Interactive.

Suicide Squad: Special Ops getting better reviews than the movie

Suicide Squad: Special Ops

The promotional game for a summer blockbuster normally doesn't receive better reviews than the actual movie, but that's exactly what happened with Suicide Squad. Warner Bros. mobile tie-in has received mostly positive reviews from both critics and gamers, alike, earning itself a 5-star rating on the Apple App Store. Normally tie-in games are released before the official movie then are quickly forgotten about by both fans and the developers, but Suicide Squad: Special Ops has been updated to version 1.1.1. The update brings a new Extreme Mode, an option to remove aim assist and other tweaks and improvements.

Disney publishes plan for discontinuing Disney Infinity

Disney Infinity

Disney announced back in May that is was discontinuing its video game series Disney Infinity, and today the company announced its plans on how the series will end.

Infinity was Disney's attempt to cash in on the collectible action figure and video game craze kicked off by Activision's Skylnaders series, and made even more popular by Nintendo's amiibo line. The video game was launched in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS, and it included physical, interactive figurines that unlocked Disney and Pixar characters within the game. Disney Infinity seemed like a guaranteed home run due to Disney's deep catalog of properties, including Marvel Superheroes, but the game never caught on.
