Official Super Bowl XLVI Game Program Now Available For the iPad

The NFL has released the official Super Bowl XLVI game program for the iPad. The iOS version is essentially the same program you would receive if you attended the Super Bowl, but with extra digital content. The app highlights the Giants’ and Patriots’ road to the championship, important moments of the 2011 season, and features over 400MB of exclusive NFL video.

This app is for diehard football fans who can't attend the big game, and requires 1 GB of hard drive space to download. Make sure you are hooked up to a high speed WiFi connection if you plan to directly download it to your device.

Belfry Tweak Adds Native iPhone Apps to Jailbroken iPads

You've already jailbroken your iPad 2 using pod2g's exploit, but what should you do with it now? For starters you can add basic iPhone apps that Apple didn't include with their tablets for some unknown reason.

iPad 2 Jailbreak iOS 5.0.1

iOS developer Ryan Petrich's Belfry tweak allows you to add Clock, Voice Memos, Stocks, Calculator, Compass and Weather to the iPad. Both the Clock and Stock apps work with the iPad's native resolution, but the rest must be zoomed in to work better with its display.

iPad Racing Game Makes Doing Cardio Easier

Fit Freeway is a new racing game that you can play while exercising. All you need is an iPad, the app, some exercise equipment (like an exercise bike or elliptical trainer) and something to hold your device while you play. The game works by allowing the user to control the speed of a car by registering how fast they exercise. The user can also steer the vehicle by moving their head left or right. Fit Freeway uses algorithms, motion sensing technology and the iPad's front-facing camera to sense the user's movements. No cables or extra hardware needed.

"We think that FitFreeway is just the start for BitGym. We have ambitious plans to change the way people think about cardio. For too long people have been told to worry about minutes, miles or calories - but really what is important is that people are engaged, have tangible goals, and keep coming back," says Alex Gourley, BitGym's CEO. "Cardio machines are awful at all these things, but with videogames we can change that."

Two New Musical Apps Turn Your iPad Into a Music Studio

I'm not sure if there is a demand for iPad family bands, but if you were looking to form one, Rockmate is the app you'll need! The new app transforms your iPad into a music studio allowing you to compose, record and play songs with up to 4 people.

Rockmate features everything you need to record and share music with your family and friends. You just have to choose what instrument you want to play, guitar, drum kit or keyboards, and use the smart metronome and a real-time looper to kick start your iPad music career. The app is being offered at the introductory price of $0.99 for one week. Hurry and download it now because it will jump to $3.99 on December 21.

Netflix Finally Releases Promised iPad Update

It only took about a month, but Netflix finally released its updated interface for the iPad. Originally launched on Android tablets and the Amazon Kindle Fire, Netflix version 2.0 offers a better experience while browsing and selecting movies.

The new interface displays twice as many movies than the old interface did, and addresses stability issues. Version 2.0 is available for devices running iOS 5.0 in Latin America, the U.S. and Canada. The app is free to download, but requires a monthly fee to access Netflix's streaming services.

iPad Approved by FAA for American Airlines Flights

You may be asked to turn off and stow your electronic devices in the cabin of an airplane, but now thanks to the FAA pilots can use iPads in the cockpit. After months of testing in all phases of flight, American Airlines is slated to begin using the iPad on Boeing 777 aircraft later this week.

Jeppesen Flight Deck app

Boeing itself has encouraged airlines to test the iPad, hoping to get its own flight navigation apps on the flight deck and enhance efficiency. Replacing the 35 pound flight bag across all of its fleet could save American Airlines $1.2 million in fuel costs alone.

Make Holiday Shopping Easier With Amazon’s Santa App

One of my favorite holiday traditions as a kid was using various store catalogues to create my Christmas wish list. I would neatly fold the pages and circle the toys I had to have creating an easy shopping guide for my mother. Every year she would turn into a living gift registry remembering what items my family and Santa bought to avoid duplicate gifts on Christmas morning. Amazon has decided to make things a little easier for parents this year with the new Santa App for the Kindle Fire and iPad.

Holiday iPad Apps

The app allows children to search through five-hundred thousand of the "hottest kid-friendly gifts" helping them create the ultimate holiday wish list. The choices are broken down into six categories: Music, Everything, Books, Video Games, Toys and Games and Movies and TV. The app also works as a gift registry, keeping track and removing items after they have been purchased. Parents can edit and approve the list before sending the Wish List link to family members and friends. I'm assuming grandma and grandpa will need their own iPad to participate.

Microsoft Office App for iPad Coming Soon

Microsoft is developing an iPad version of its popular Office suite for release sometime in 2012. According to a report in The Daily, the apps would likely be comparable in price to Apple's competing products Pages, Keynote and Numbers selling for $10 each.

Apple's productivity tools are designed to optimize use of the iPad touch screen, with redesigned menus and functionality for editing presentations, spreadsheets and text documents on the mobile device. With the iPad dominating tablet market share, it seems Microsoft is jumping into the fray to get a piece of the action.
