Apple Adds Two More Channels to Apple TV Before Rumored Refresh

USA Now

Apple has been trying to make Apple TV more attractive to customers by reducing its price to $69.99, and by adding new channels like TED and Tastemade. The company also landed an exclusive deal with HBO to carry HBO NOW until July, and added several sports channels starting with Sports Illustrated's 120 SPORTS in January. Today Mac Rumors noticed CBS Sports and USA NOW have also been added to the Apple TV lineup.

Can I connect the Apple TV to multiple TVs?

While many cable and satellite boxes let you connect to several TVs and watch different channels on each, you can't do this with the Apple TV. You can connect it to multiple HDTVs using HDMI splitters but you would have to watch the same content on each TV, so you couldn't watch one program in the living room and another in the bedroom simultaneously.

Does the Apple TV need an internet connection?

Yes, you will need to connect to the internet in order to use the Apple TV because it relies on streaming content from other sources like Netflix, Hulu or other content servers, or your Mac, iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. It can connect either with an Ethernet cable or via Wi-Fi. If you want to use your iPad as a remote or stream movies, music or other content from it via AirPlay, you will need a Wi-Fi connection. Other than that, you just need an HDMI cable to connect your Apple TV to your HDTV.
