It is quite possible that the iPad mini 4 will be the last 7.9-inch tablet released by Apple. iPad mini sales have not only been cannibalized by the larger iPhone models, but it is also no longer the most affordable iPad on the market, except for today. Staples is offering a $100 discount on the 128GB WiFi model, bringing the price down from $399 to $299. This makes the fourth-generation iPad mini cheaper than the current 9.7-inch model at $329.
The Gold, Silver and Space Gray models are all available at the discounted price.
This is a great time to grab an iPad mini if the rumors are true and Apple does plan to phase it out. It doesn't seem likely that you will ever find an unused model at a cheaper price than $299.
The iPad mini 4 is equipped with a 7.9-inch display with 2048-by-1536 resolution at 326 pixels per inch. It is also equipped with the same 8- and 1.2-megapixel cameras with all the same features as the current 9.7-inch model. It is powered by Apple's A8 processor with the M8 motion coprocessor, and it ships with Apple Pay, Siri and Touch ID.
The iPad mini 4 will also support iOS 11 when the new OS is released next month.
The fourth-generation iPad mini is available at $399 for the WiFi-only model and $529 for the cellular model on apple.com.
