As expected, Apple on Monday announced its next-generation iPad Pro at WWDC 2017 in San Jose, California. The new 10.5-inch slate replaces the previous 9.7-inch model with a faster and more powerful tablet without drastically altering weight or form factor. The 10.5-inch model offers almost the same physical dimensions as its predecessor since it shaves off the side bezels. This means the new iPad Pro is almost all screen offering users more real estate with a full-size on-screen keyboard.
Apple claims the new iPad Pro is 30 percent faster than its predecessor and 500 times more powerful than the original iPad. It is also brighter and more responsive. The 10.5-inch model is powered by an A10X CPU and 12-core GPU with a 120Hz refresh rate. This allows the iPad to behave more like a computer and makes the Apple Pencil more responsive.
Battery life is advertised at 10 hours, and iOS 11 is packed with several new iPad features such as a new Dock for finding your favorite and recently used apps and files. The iPad Pro will also include a new Drag and Drop feature, a redesigned App Switcher and better multitasking.
The 10.5-inch model is equipped with a LED-backlit Multi-Touch Retina display with 2224-by-1668 resolution at 264 pixels per inch, a 12-megapixel camera, 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera and four speakers. It is availble in Silver, Gold, Space Gray and Rose Gold in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB storage capacities.
The 10.5-inch model is available now through apple.com starting at $649.
