Does the iPad Air 2 feature multitasking?

Update: The iPad Air 2 now features multitasking features such as Slide Over, Split View, and Picture in Picture thanks to iOS 9.0.

There were several rumors that Apple would introduce some kind of multitasking feature in iOS 8 for the iPad Air 2, but no such feature was announced at Apple's 2014 iPad keynote. There's still a chance that Apple will introduce multitasking on its rumored 12-inch iPad Pro, but it's doubtful.
